I don’t go to movies very often, but over spring break, I was able to see the movie Cinderella. It was breathtaking! I loved how it stayed true to the animated Disney version of Cinderella.
One major difference between the animated Disney version and the newly released Cinderella movie is the music. There was only one song throughout the entire movie. It’s a beautiful lullaby sung by Cinderella’s mother and, later in the movie, by Cinderella. The song is called Lavender’s Blue, or sometimes just Lavender Blue. The song is an old English nursery rhyme.
I recognized the song from my beginning piano lessons. It was in my first piano book, and I thought it was a cute song. I just read that the song did not make it on the soundtrack for the new Cinderella movie, which I find unfortunate.
Here are the words for the first verse:
The song was also featured in Disney’s So Dear To My Heart. You can hear Burl Ives singing that version of Lavender’s Blue here.
