My son has discovered sports in the past few months, and loves to turn everything into a game. His favorite sport so far is basketball. He has a Little Tikes basketball hoop (it is awesome) and he practices shooting for hours a day. When he can’t find the basketball, he improvises by using other balls, stuffed animals, and even frisbees. When he makes a basket, he claps and cheers. It’s so fun to be able to watch his development as he gets older.
We’ve been practicing trying to catch the ball and throw the ball with him, as well. One way I have been doing that is to sing a ball-bouncing song called “Bounce high, bounce low” while I throw the ball to him. The song is really simple. Here are the words:
Bounce High, Bounce low
Bounce high, bounce low
Bounce the ball to *Shiloh
The song uses the name Shiloh, but you can substitute your child’s name instead. When I have done this in class, we sometimes sing “bounce the ball to one you know”, and then they can choose someone. You could also add an “o” sound to the end of the name.
